Sea
The sea at Evoean gulf is calm and peaceful almost all the time,
something allows visitors to enjoy the sea throughout the whole
day, whether early morning or late night. It is a usual phenomenon
to find springs with drinking water on the sea bed.
For the amateur fishermen, it is a small fishing paradise, and
offers a big variety of fish, such as durades and sea bass.

Mountains Paths
In the whole area three big mountains domainate the scenery. These
are the mountains of Telethrion, Xiron Oros and Oros Kandili.
All around the area are many natural paths that lead through
beautiful routes to forests and green openings. For the trekking
and hiking lovers there many paths on which to explore. On all
three mountains are paths where the walker can enjoy a charming
route through a fir forest and hike on the rocky wild beauty of
Mount Kandili.
There is a magnificent route that starts from the village of Kastaniotissa
and ends in the village Helia, passing through Mount Telethrion.
On this route walkers will meet sreams, springs, ravines, forests
of acorn, plain and cherry trees and the mountainous lake Great
( Megali ) Svala. You must pay a vist to the Arapis gorge( Faragea
), which is a magnificent area with wild beaty, great legends
and myths, situated close to the village of Agia Anna.

Fossilised Stoned forest of Kerasia
You can visit the Petrified-fossil forest of Kerasia, which is
a very interesting place near to the village Kerasia Nileos, on
the road Kerasia - Istiea. From this area excavations have brought
to light many fossils of fauna and wild life, from the paleontologic
period. After study, the findings from the area Papades are estimated
10-25 million years old. This forest is situated in North Evia
and is one of the richest petrified forests in Europe. It covers
an area between the villages Kerasia Agia Anna Pappades. Located
everywhere in this area area petrified tree trunks, but the area
with the most of them is at Psili Rahi, located to the west of
the village Kerasia.
The paleo wild life of this area included mahearodontes ( wild
cats like lyons ), Helladotherea ( giraffes with short necks )
and Halikotherea. Other wild animals that used to live here were
elephants, small horses and ihthetherea, which is an ancestor
of the hyena.
A great excavation took place many years ago and resulted in very
interesting findings, including a rhino skull with two hornes.
All of the findings are safely kept in the Paleontogical and Anthropological
Museum of Athens University.
Koulouros Village
You can visit the village of Koulouros, which is a deserted village
located at a mountainous place, with magnificent views towards
the mountain. Here you will have a great chance for trekking through
ravines and forests, with magnificent sceneries.

4×4 Excursions
The 4x4 lovers will have the chance to drive along magnificent
routes through many areas, as the whole area offers special routes
through the forests with thick vegetation. A route such as this
starts from the coastal village of Helia up towards Mount Telethrion,
reaching the village Spiada. There are maps with all these routes.

Waterfalls of Drymonas
Very close to the road Drymona Kerasia, is an area covered with
rich fauna and magnificent scenery. You can follow the carefully
designed path, developed by the local forest authority, which
used natural materials for the barriers and bridges, creating
a natural park, as well they built a beautiful kiosk which hosts
a small exhibition of local fauna and focils.
The whole area is covered by rich vegetation with pine, oak and
fir trees, and great fauna. On the top of the bed of the ravine
you will see the amazing site of the water falls.

Monasteries Religious Toursism
Located very close to "Rovies Camping" are 4 interesting
monasteries.
Monastery of Xrisovalantou
During your staying in Evia you can visit the Monastery of Agia
Irene Xrysovalantou, which is a new built monastery, located on
a very green slope, with beautiful scenery and tranquil environment.
On the 10th km. of the road Aedipsos Limni, is a crossroad that
leads to the Monastery, which is approximately 2km away.

Monastery of Galataki
The Monastery of Agios ( Saint ) Nikolaos is also known as monastery
Galataki, and was built in the 7th century and is one of the oldest
monasteries in Greece. The history of this monastery starts from
the Byzantine period, before 1200 AD.
Today the monastery is for women and you can see in the yard,
ruins of an ancient temple, ( probably Poseidon ) and at the same
place a Venetian tower, which according the legend was built by
the Saint David.

Monastery of Osios David
All visitors to this delightful region of Evia should try and
pay a visit to the Monastery of Osios David, which is situated
on a cross road, close to the main road of Kerasia - Istiea, located
in a very beautiful spot filled with trees and spring fountains.
The monastery is one of the few monasteries occupied by men in
Evia, and was founded in 1550. Visitors to the monastery can view
exhibits of old religious documents and historic documents that
are found in the small chapel, which is situated in the yard of
the monastery.
Visitors can also sample the hospitality of the monks on this
monastery, by being offered herbal tea from the mountains, local
olives and rye rusks, and dried figs, produced by the monks. The
monastery is just 20 minutes from the Camping Rovies campsite.

Monastery of Saint George
The monastery today is for women and is situated in a very beautiful
setting. You can visit this monastery either from Aedipsos through
Polylolofos, or from Helia.
In both cases the distance to the monastery is 15 km. The last
kilometers of this route is accessible by a track road, suitable
for all cars. The history of this monastery goes way back and
the religious relics and documents are very interesting highlighting
it's path through history. Also worth seeing is the wooden carved
iconostasis inside the temple.

Museums
You can pay a visit to the Natural History Myseum of Istea that
exhibits many findings from the fauna and wild life of Greece.
You can see the archeological collection of Aedipsos that is hosted
at the internal and external areas of the Spa center of E.O.T.
( Greek Organisation of Tourism ). Here you can see findings,
statues, and reliefs from the Roman period, coins and vessels
of various periods, ceramics from the Neolithic period and sculptures
from the Byzantine period.
Another very important museum you can visit is the Historical
Cultural Museum of Limni. The impressive exhibits show the special
cultural and historical appearance of Limni. On the first floor
the archeological collection of Limni is housed, which includes
vessels, coins, architecture parts, tomb signs from the classical,
Hellenistic and Roman period. At the ground floor of the museum
you will find the Historic archive of Limni.

Something you shouldnt miss is the expeirience of visiting the
Nautilos Museum ( Sea Shell museum ) with its impressive and
interesting tour.
After 40 years of hard work, thousands of findings from the seas
all over the world and Greece are exhibited at the Nautilos Museum.
The museum was funded with the intention to bring visitors close
to the sea world.
In the show room it is easy for one to realize how these organisms,
which were the first living organisms on earth billions of years
before, gave to man knowledge as well as civilized elements.
They inspired architecture styles such as the Ionic style, inspired
artists, as well as musical, helped in the coloring ( porfyra
) of clothes for Royals in some eras, and being part of jewellery
for the women. They offered with their structure, their colors,
and their shape help to medicine and technology, became money
units and in general they helped in the creation of an environment
of harmony.
At the same place you will have the chance to admire mosaic paintings
made by shells, sea-urchin and semi precious stones. If you want

You can pay a vist to the tower of Agias Paraskevis at Aedipsos,
The big statue of the Taures at Oreie and the impressive castle
in the same area, Kastradaki hamlet, with it's Proto Helladic
findings of an inhabitant, the Klisouras castle, the interesting
Cultural Museum of Agia Anna and the War and Historic Museum of
Liaskos.
Other Activities
You can pay a visit to Womens Association of Limni Municipality,
were you can purchase local handmade embroideries, carpets and
throws, all weaved at the loom and if you like you can take some
short lessons on the wooden loom, something different and interesting
which will fulfill your holiday moments. The Greek tradition stays
alive, thanks to the efforts of those talented women.

You can also visit the Olive association of Rovies, where you
can taste and buy olive oil, olives and various related products.
The lovers of motocross will have the chance to use the motocross
track that belongs to the Limni municipality.
Camping Rovies is just 15 minutes away from the Aedipsos Spas.
The renovated Sylla Therma Spa with it's modern facilities and
spas, is well known in both Greece and all over the world.
In general, Aedipsos is the biggest Spa center in Greece. The
hot spas of Aedipsos are the third on line in Europe, as to the
